Foundations of Medical Terminology

Foundations of Medical Terminology is an event in which HOSA members learn how to correctly spell, identify, and apply roots, suffixes, prefixes, and anatomy to health occupations in the community. Competitors identify, define, and apply medical terms in a 50-item multiple-choice test — which is then followed by 10 fill-in-the-blank questions. HOSA members in this testing event are required to analyze, determine, and learn different suffixes and prefixes of the human body throughout the year to prepare themselves to test their skills and understanding of the topics.
